Domain Guide

Domain renewal, transfer, and registrar checklist

A completed purchase is not the end of domain risk. Buyers still need stable control, renewal planning, correct DNS, and a clear understanding of transfer rules.

Account and contact information

After transfer, confirm that the domain is in your registrar account and that registrant, admin, billing, and security contact details are correct.

If the account email is outdated, renewal reminders, transfer confirmations, and security notices may never reach you.

Renewal date and auto-renewal

Check the expiration date, renewal price, auto-renewal status, and payment method. Some extensions or registrars may have renewal prices that differ from first-year prices.

For important domains, add calendar reminders instead of relying on one email notification.

DNS, locks, and transfer restrictions

If you plan to launch a site, review nameservers, DNS records, SSL configuration, and Cloudflare or other DNS services.

Also check domain lock status and transfer restrictions. Newly registered or recently transferred domains may have waiting periods before another transfer is allowed.
